The Sir Syed Day celebration was organized by the Kerala branch of the Aligarh Muslim University Alumni Association on October 20 at Kottakkall Peace Public School.
To celebrate Sir Syed Day, Aligarh Muslim University Kerala alumni organised a meet for batches spanning from 1955 to 2025. The event was held under the banner of Aligarh Muslim University Old Students’ Association Kerala (AMUOSAK) on Sunday, at Kottakkal Peace Public School, Malappuram. The programme underscored that all the Aligarians (Aligs) should be committed to be the next link of educational and cultural revival by copying the thoughts of the great social mission shown by Sir Syed.

Former Education Minister of Kerala PK Abdurrabb, Chairman of Mapilakala Academy Dr. Hussain Randathani, Almas Group of Institutions Director P.A. Kabir, Peace Public School Principal Jauhar, Captain (Dr) Abdul Hameed among others attended the event.
The speakers at the event reminisced how Aligarh Muslim University was a dream come true of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan. They also stressed that the University is the symbol of renaissance. Sir Syed, according to the speakers, worked bravely and determinedly for uplifting the community, was a personality of exceptional strength, and was a force of nature who faced struggles head on.
At the Sir Syed Day celebration, the iconic Tarana of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) was performed. The team delivered a soul-stirring performance during the celebration. The rendition of the Tarana, “Ye mera chaman hai mera chaman, main apne chaman ka bulbul huṅ”, was the highlight of the event. The performance took the audience of alumni walk back the memory lane of their cherished days in the prestigious University.

The Aligarh Muslim University Old Students’ Association Kerala Chapter invites entries from College and University students in Kerala to participate in an essay competition on the topic “Politicising religiion and the contemperory Indian Scenario”.
Participants whose essays are selected will be invited for an interaction on the same topic which will be conducted online. Those adjudged first place will be awarded Dr. Iswari Prasad Upadhyaya Award in honour of the first graduate of Aligarh Muslim University.
